U.S. Central Command said U.S. forces carried out strikes against Iran on June 26 after a one-way attack drone hit the Singapore-flagged container ship Ever Lovely on June 25 while it was exiting the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani coast.
CENTCOM said the strikes targeted Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites. Maritime reporting from UKMTO and ship operator Evergreen said the vessel was following a UKMTO-recommended route when it was struck on the starboard side of the bridge superstructure near Oman, about 7.5 nautical miles southeast of Dahit.
Initial incident reports said there were no casualties and no environmental damage. CENTCOM said it is continuing safe-passage coordination and support for commercial vessels transiting the strait.
The Strait of Hormuz is a key energy shipping route that carried about 19.87 million barrels per day of oil and petroleum products and more than one-fifth of global LNG trade in 2025, according to the International Energy Agency.
