Fujitsu said Chairman Hidenori Furuta resigned as a director effective June 16 after the board confirmed inappropriate conduct and received his request to step down.
The company also withdrew Furuta’s candidacy for director at its 126th annual shareholders meeting scheduled for June 29.
Fujitsu said Proposal No. 1 at the meeting will now be handled as the election of nine directors instead of the 10 candidates originally proposed. The company said the matter came to the board’s attention after the notice of the annual shareholders meeting had been released.
