Former Bersatu deputy president and former opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin on June 13 launched a new political party, Parti Wawasan Negara, saying it will align with the opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional.
Hamzah announced the party’s formation during the Reset Convention, and local reports said the party’s name was given by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang. Parti Wawasan Negara is scheduled to hold its inaugural annual general assembly next week.
The launch comes as PAS is reviewing Bersatu’s position in Perikatan Nasional, with a decision expected next Wednesday after PAS announced on Monday that it had ended its political cooperation with Bersatu.
