The U.S. Defense Department on Monday published an updated list of entities it identifies as Chinese military companies, naming Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., Baidu Inc., and BYD Co. among the firms included.

The update replaces an earlier list issued in early 2025 and reflects the department’s assessment that the listed companies are connected to support for China’s military.

Under U.S. rules, designation on the list can limit eligibility for U.S. defense contracts and related procurement activities. The update was released less than a month after U.S. President Donald Trump met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, where the two leaders maintained a trade war truce.
