ILO platform work convention

The International Labour Organization adopted Convention No. 193 at the 114th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva on June 12, 2026, establishing the first binding international labor standards for digital platform work.

The Decent Work in the Platform Economy Convention sets employment-related rules for workers whose jobs are managed through digital labor platforms and creates, for the first time, international provisions on algorithmic management.

The agreement is intended to address gaps in protections for platform-based workers and applies to a form of work that affects hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
